Occupational safety and health

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health

  • develops and supervises occupational safety and health legislation,
  • promotes sound practices,
  • participates in the international development of occupational health and safety and
  • makes known the goals and best practices of occupational safety and health.

Occupational safety and health strategies in Finland focus on

  • maintaining and promoting the health, safety and working capacity of employees,
  • preventing workplace accidents and occupational diseases
  • safeguarding mental wellbeing and
  • ergonomics and workloads.

Implementing occupational safety and health strategies

The implementation of the strategic areas of occupational safety and health in Finland are assessed every three years by the MSAH together with the Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health and social partners.
