The Minister for Equality deals with matters of gender equality.

State secretaries

Pia Pohja is State Secretary to the Minister of Social Affairs and Health.

Sinikka Näätsaari  is State Secretary to the Minister of Health and Social Services.

The state secretaries assist and represent the ministers. Their work involves furthering and monitoring the implementation of the government programme in the minister's particular field of responsibility, dealing with the collaboration between the ministry and other administrative sectors, and assisting the ministry in its international work, particularly in the EU.

Permanent Secretary 

The MSAH's Permanent Secretary is Päivi Sillanaukee.

The Permanent Secretary leads and oversees the ministry's work  and assists the ministers. Responsibilities include the quality of legislation drafting, the coordination of the activities of the ministry and the administrative sector, and the preparation and monitoring of the ministry's set goals.
