An expert group consisting of a maximum of seven members operates as part of the Pharmaceuticals Pricing Board. This expert group represents medical, pharmacological, health economics and social insurance expertise.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health appoints the expert group for three years at a time. The term of the present group ends on 31.12.2012.

The expert group does not make decisions. The Pharmaceuticals Pricing Board acquires an opinion from its expert group for example before deciding on special reimbursement status for a new active substance or before expanding reimbursement to a new indication.
